Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, March 23 Trooper David Marra, assigned to State Police in Springfield, was on patrol traveling on Route 91 northbound in Longmeadow.

As he was passing Mile Marker 1 he observed a black Mercedes sedan, with a defective headlight, pass his cruiser and stopped the vehicle, state police said.

After the vehicle came to a stop, the driver was identified as Delroy Gouldbourne, age 32, of Hartford.

During a computer check of Gouldbourne's license and registration, Marra found the license was suspended in Massachusetts. It also revealed he had a warrant for his arrest out of Springfield District Court.

Trooper Marra returned to the Mercedes and placed Gouldbourne under arrest.

A pat-frisk revealed he was carrying a concealed Phoenix Arms pistol in his waistband loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition, state police said.

A small amount of a substance suspected to be Oxycodone was also found in Gouldbourne'ss pocket, state police said.

Following his arrest, Gouldbourne was charged with

  • Carrying a loaded firearm
  • Possession of a firearm
  • Possession of ammunition without FID card
  • Possession of a Class B substance
  • Operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license
  • Two traffic violations

He was released on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
